More than one third of voting-age Hungarians say they back the main opposition party, Fidesz, outnumbering supporters of the governing Socialist Party (MSZP) by a margin of 3:1, according to the latest opinion polls. While satisfaction with the Bajnai government's crisis-managment program has improved slightly in recent months, the MSZP has been unable to broaden its base. The far-right Jobbik party retained its support of about 6 percent among all respondents. The party faithful are highly active and presumably include a number of "hiding voters". Jobbik may able to repeat (or even exceed) its 15% share of the EP vote in national parliamentary elections due in spring 2010.
