A balance of political forces seems to have been frozen in Slovakia for months now, though the leading governing party did not manage to gain the predicted proportion of votes in June at the EP elections (32% with turnout staying below 20 percent). According to a fresh poll carried out by Median, about 27 percent said they would definitely take part in the elections. The extremely low voter activity and the deteriorating economic trends can easily melt Smer’s popularity by the 2010 elections.
